Shockwave Therapy for Erectile Dysfunction By The Expert Dr Nadia Yousri

What is Vigore Shockwaves?

Vigore is one of the devices of Shockwave therapy. Low Intensity Shockwave Therapy (LISWT). is a proven soundwave technology that focuses the sound waves onto a linear segment to the target area & called Vigore. There is another type of Shockwave device that apply the low-density sound waves in a focal way rather than a linear way. Both devices are NON invasive & have same kind of effect & success rate.

It Takes Two To Tango!

What conditions Shockwave therapy helps with?

Male erectile dysfunction especially the vasculogenic type

Chronic prostatitis

Chronic pelvic pain

Treatment of urinary incontinence (like post prostatectomy)

Is it safe?

LISWT is a ground-breaking technology that has been used for decades to help with wound healing especially healing of bone fractures & damaged joints. Since 1986, further innovations have been introduced including its use in treatment of ED, diabetic foot ulcer & to break down stones in the kidney, gallbladder, or ureters etc.

Is it painful? Any side effects?

is simple, non-invasive and pain-free. To date, no negative side effects related to Renova treatment are reported.

Who performs it?

The assessment and the bespoke/individualised treatment plans (for various indications) and the actual treatment sessions are ALL performed by Dr Nadia YOUSRI, the highly qualified and experienced Consultant Specialist,FRCOG, MRCOG, PhD & MSc & DFSRH (Certified in all Shockwave Therapy).- in order to maximise the odds of success

How does Shockwave work?

Treatment works by encouraging the penis to rejuvenate and re-build new blood vessels, called angiogenesis with reparative changes leading to new tissue formation & improvement of blood flow to the area. The newly regenerated tissues strengthen the erectile tissues & restores confident performance.

How would the body respond to Shockwave therapy?

The body responds by increasing the blood circulation and metabolism in male organ which in turn accelerates the body’s own healing processes via three mechanisms:

· Promotes angio-genesis (development of new blood vessels) in the penis which means that the blood flow to the penis increases, and hence stronger erections are achieved.

· Rejuvenates the endothelium and penis smooth muscle –thus improve the function of the veno-occlusive mechanism.

· It was reported in some studies, that Shockwave therapy had improved the functioning of the penile nerves that were damaged by Diabetes illness or following a radical prostatectomy.

How many sessions do I need?

We recommend a minimum of 6 sessions, but the protocol of sessions is customised based on the degree of ED & other factors that are revealed by clinical assessment. Each session takes 15-20 minutes.

When Can I see improvement?

A real physiological change could be noticed within 4-6 weeks up to 6 months after completing the treatment course.

What is the success rate?

The success rate is variable (results are subject to individual variation) according to causes & the definition of success point. In the literature the reported success rate is about 62% . Success could mean going from no erection to erections solid enough to penetrate or to others success means having erections happening again with the help of medications that were no longer working, but now are working.

How long the effect would last?

The reported duration is variable among the men treated but the benefit of the treatment tends to last for 12 months.

What does it entail?

Shockwave Therapy is a 20 minute-painless non-invasive procedure without side effects or downtime. A once only treatment series, usually advisable over 4-6 weeks. A top-up session after 6-12 months is recommended to maintain the excellent results.

Who performs it?

Prior Consultation, Full Clinical assessment & the procedure are all performed by Dr. Nadia Yousri, OB&GY & Aesthetic Gynaecology Consultant, FRCOG, MRCOG, PhD & MSc & DFSRH (Certified in all Shockwave Therapy).
